1. Data controller

The data controller for WhenBorder (the "Game") is:
[n3z]
Contact: privacy@whenborder.com

2. What data the Game processes

WhenBorder is a static web app with no backend server and no user accounts. It does not collect, transmit or store any personal data on its own servers. The only data it handles is your game progress (the day you played, your guesses and scores), which is saved exclusively in your browser's local storage (localStorage), under the key whenborder_v1. This data:

  • never leaves your device or browser;
  • is not sent to us or to any third party;
  • is used only to remember your progress and let you review past results.

3. Hosting and technical logs

This site is hosted on infrastructure provided by Aruba S.p.A. (Italy/EU). Like most web hosting providers, Aruba's servers may automatically record standard technical information for every request (e.g. IP address, browser type, date/time, requested page) in server logs, for security, abuse-prevention and operational purposes. This processing is carried out by Aruba as a technical necessity of serving the pages and is governed by Aruba's own privacy policy, available on their website. We do not have access to, and do not otherwise use, these logs for profiling or marketing purposes.

4. Cookies and tracking

WhenBorder does not use cookies, does not embed any analytics, advertising or social-media scripts, and does not use any third-party tracker. No cookie banner is shown because no non-essential storage or tracking technology is used.

5. Data retention and deletion

Since your game data is stored only in your browser, it stays on your device until you clear it yourself β€” e.g. via your browser's "Clear browsing data" / "Clear site data" settings for this site, or by using private/incognito browsing. We have no server-side copy to delete.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR (Articles 15–22) you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Because no personal data is processed on our servers, these rights are, in practice, exercised directly by you by clearing your browser's local storage as described above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

7. Children

The Game is not specifically directed at children and does not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone, regardless of age.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if the Game changes (e.g. if analytics or new features requiring data processing are introduced in the future). Any change will be published on this page with an updated "last updated" date.

9. Contact

For any privacy question, contact privacy@whenborder.com.
